Suspicious, hazardous, or illegal items (all employees)

Stop, step back, and report. Your safety comes first.

1. Stop handling the item. Don't open it further, move it, or remove anything from it.
2. If there is any immediate danger (weapon, wires, leaking liquid, strong chemical smell, threat), move people away and call 911 if needed.
3. Otherwise, notify your supervisor right away. Supervisor decides whether to call police.
4. Keep others away from the item until police or a supervisor takes over.
5. Write down what you saw, when, where, and who was present. Submit it the same day.

Suspected drugs follow the same steps: stop, secure the area, and call police — as was done in the past garage case.
