Procedure: Drivers returning a left-behind item
Drivers only carry and hand over items that Customer Care has arranged. No arrangement, no delivery.
Before you leave
- Customer Care or the agent gives you the item along with the owner's name, item description, and Lost & Found log number.
- Confirm the item matches the description. If it doesn't, don't take it — tell the agent.
- Keep the item in a secure spot (not loose in the cabin). High-value items stay with you or in a locked compartment.
At the hand-off
- Ask the person for their name and a photo ID.
- Check that the name matches the name you were given.
- For high-value items, ask them to describe the item before you hand it over.
- Hand over the item and note it (name, ID type, time, stop) on your trip sheet or by message to Customer Care.
Do NOT hand over the item if
- They have no photo ID, or the name doesn't match
- They can't describe a high-value item
- Someone else shows up who wasn't authorized by Customer Care
- The owner doesn't show up
In any of these cases, keep the item, stay polite, and say: "I'm sorry, I can't release this without a matching ID. Please call Customer Care and they'll get it sorted out." Return the item to the terminal at the end of your run and tell Customer Care what happened.
Stay on schedule. Don't wait past your departure time for an owner who is late.
