Portsmouth Construction Starts Monday 11/2: What to Expect Over the Next Two Weeks
The Portsmouth terminal will undergo major renovations November 2–16, resulting in a temporary lobby closure, relocated ticketing operations, outdoor passenger waiting areas, portable restrooms, and construction-related disruptions while the team works to maintain safe and efficient service.
Buckle up, team. Major construction at the Portsmouth terminal kicks off Monday, November 2, and for the next two weeks we will be living the glamorous construction life: porta potties, heat lamps, outside seating, and a front lobby that is officially off limits. It is going to be messy, loud, and a little chaotic, but we are C&J. We move people through snowstorms and Logan traffic for a living. We can handle a little drywall dust.
Ticketing sets
Tomorrow, Thursday, we are moving one of the two ticketing sets into Rob's office. We are cutting a new door from the vestibule leading to the busway, directly into Rob's office. Agents will enter and exit through that door. Return to one cash draw and one cash out, as before. If we missed something in this process, or if you think of something we need or that would help, please let me know. Agents will not work in that area until Monday morning.
Lobby closure
The entire front lobby will be closed Nov 2–16. Managers should enter through the back door to Bridgette's office. Freddy will remain in Rollinsford during this time, and Caley can continue cleaning the management area, as foot traffic will be higher there. She should also keep an eye on the outside trash and debris, as those will increase as well.
Passengers
Heat lamps and seating will be available outside for passengers to wait. Please load buses in Portsmouth immediately so people don't have to stand outside longer than necessary. Monitor the waiting area at all times. Given the heaters, weather, and construction activity, safety comes first. There will be no coffee at this time. The kitchen coffee maker will be set up in the conference room, along with the kitchen refrigerator for your personal use.
Bathrooms
We will set up three (3) porta potties outside for passengers and empty them twice a week. If they start to fill up or overflow, notify a manager immediately so we can have them serviced. Agents can use the management bathroom.
Noise and dust
A HEPA air scrubber will run throughout the building to control dust and fumes during the flooring work. A concrete grinder will also be on site, likely next Thursday and Friday. It will be extremely loud, so management should plan to work from home those days. I will confirm the dates as soon as I receive them.
Thank you,

Messaging
The Marketing team will message Portsmouth Travelers over the next few weeks, as best we can, to prepare them for this inconvenience, but some will still be surprised and upset by the cold conditions, having been dressed for their warm vacations. Please do your best to assist.
Thank you,
